Making Transformative Change in the Aging Life Care Field
During Aging Life Care Month, we cover the bold charge issued at the national conference of the Aging Life Care Association® (ALCA) in April.
The Aging Life Care field is entering a transformative moment—and ALCA Board President Nina Herndon believes now is the time to "Push Our Potential."
In our latest blog, adapted from Nina's keynote address, she outlines a new era of opportunity for Aging Life Care Professionals®. From strengthening community and strategic partnerships to increasing public awareness and integrating AI into practice, Nina outlines an aspirational vision for the profession's future.
The blog also highlights exciting momentum within ALCA, including growing demand for Aging Life Care services, expanded member programs, and initiatives designed to support professionals at every stage of their careers.
Whether you're already in the field or exploring a path into Aging Life Care, ALCA's message is both a call to action and an inspiring reminder of the impact this work can have on families and communities.
This month, in honor of National Aging Life Care Month and Stroke Awareness Month, we celebrate the power of memories, connection, and creative self-expression.
🎨 "My Life in Color" Memory Collage
Using photos, magazine clippings, drawings, or meaningful words, create a collage that reflects favorite memories, people, hobbies, or life experiences. There's no right or wrong way—just an opportunity to tell your story through color and creativity.
For older adults, creative activities that foster reminiscence can support emotional wellness, cognitive engagement, and meaningful connection—especially during recovery or life transitions.
✨ Tip: Invite conversation while creating your collage—ask about favorite memories, traditions, or moments that bring joy.
Creative activities like this serve to honor the stories and experiences that make each life unique.
