The Fiduciary Guide to

Supporting the Whole Client

When caring for an aging loved one, it's easy to focus on immediate needs such as healthcare, safety, medications, and daily routines. While these are essential, quality of life is equally important. What brings purpose, joy, and connection is different for every person, which is why understanding an individual's history, interests, values, and preferences is central to person-centered care.

In our latest blog, the second installment of The Fiduciary Guide to Supporting the Whole Client, Meredith Eden, MA, LMFT, and Kari Rogenski, MA, LMFT, PhD Candidate, explore Sage's Seven Domains of Wellness framework. You'll see how this framework helps families, fiduciaries, and care professionals create meaningful opportunities for engagement.

You'll also find practical ideas for supporting quality of life at every budget, proving that thoughtful, person-centered care doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. We invite you to read the article and discover new ways to help your loved one live with dignity, purpose, and joy.

Choose a favorite photograph from years ago and pair it with a current photo, or create a new picture recreating a similar pose or activity. Spend time talking about what has changed, what has stayed the same, and the people, places, or traditions that continue to bring meaning. This simple activity encourages storytelling, connection, and reflection while celebrating a lifetime of experiences.

Every chapter of life adds to the story worth celebrating.

As we look ahead to September, Sage Eldercare Solutions is reflecting on 25 years since Nina Herndon founded the practice in 2001. We capture Sage's origin story in a three-part blog series, drawn from Nina's recollections.

How Sage Began: The Inspiration Behind Our Mission

Discover how Nina's childhood experiences shaped her lifelong commitment to helping older adults age with dignity and compassion. Like many small businesses, Sage grew from one person's clear vision and purpose.

Then and Now: How Eldercare Has Changed in 25 Years

See how eldercare has evolved over the past 25 years. When Sage began, emotional well-being and whole-family support were often overlooked. Sage was founded on a simple yet powerful belief: care should enrich quality of life, not merely meet basic needs.

Growing the Vision: Building a New Kind of Eldercare

Follow Sage's growth as the practice expanded through the additions of Sage Home Care and The Hummingbird Project, creating more personalized, engaging ways to support older adults and their families while staying true to our original mission.

We hope these stories offer a deeper understanding of who we are, what drives our work, and our enduring commitment to helping people live well at every stage of aging.

What's Up This Month

August is National Make-a-Will Month

Did you know that nearly 7 in 10 Americans don't have a will? According to a 2025 Pew Research Center survey, only 32% of U.S. adults have created a will, meaning 68% have not!

Creating a will is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give your loved ones. It offers clarity during a difficult time and helps ensure your wishes are known.

At Sage, we believe planning isn't only about what happens after we're gone—it's also about how we want to live as we age. That's the heart of The Sage Plan: taking time to reflect on what matters most, sharing your hopes and preferences, and giving those you love the confidence that they're honoring your wishes.

This August, consider making time for both. A will helps protect your legacy, and The Sage Plan helps protect the life you want to live.
